Surf Art and the Surfer 2015

Take a moment to think of that place you go to be inspired… where the creative atmosphere gets the imaginative juices flowing. Do you have it? I think you know the place; the writers have their coffee shops, romantics have that prime spot for every sunset, children look up to the sky where the clouds come alive, and surfers have their favorite break where they wait on their boards, anticipating that perfect wave. Here’s another question: where do you go to inspire others? For a moment let’s make an assumption: we all want to inspire others, or leave our mark on the world. So where do you go?

Here is a new idea to consider adding to your list: On November 20th and 21st, Surfing The Nations is hosting the third annual “Surf Art and the Surfer” art festival in Wahiawa, Hawaii! This is an event that celebrates the art of self-expression, surf, and the transformation of Wahiawa. If you’re an artist, surfer, or just someone who loves a good time… come on out! Join with us to ignite the dreams of our youth; together, let us enjoy the value that art has to offer.Collageartshow1How YOU can join in on the stoke!

Surf Art and the Surfer will have different entertainment stations to suit a variety of tastes. Come watch John Carper do live art, or enjoy a cup of our amazing coffee with performances featuring local musicians and dancers in our Surfers Coffee Bar. Check out our featured art from big name artists such as Mark Brown and Kelly Turner, as well as pieces from Wahiawa students in our gallery. We’ll have our very own surfer’s “museum” and an array of food options put on by Street Grindz! While you’re here, be sure  check out our display that will be exploring the history of Surfing The Nations: the transformation of local and international communities through the sport of surfing and selfless service, and the incredible volunteers who have dedicated their lives to meet needs and change lives.

Spread the word & save the date: STN has partnered with Cobian Footwear, and starting November 1, “Surf Art and The Surfer” shirts will be available at all HIC stores across Oahu! Leading up to the art festival, a shirt will be given with each pair of Cobian slippers purchased. Be a part of the excitement as we prepare for another amazing Surf Art and The Surfer weekend that you won’t want to miss.
