In Between Sets: April 2017
The STN universe cycles through three semesters a year and in between those sets (see what we did there? 😉 ) we have what we call “down” months. Our interns have graduated and flown the nest, the SLS students have moved on to full-time staff positions and many of the staff are on outreach in Bangladesh.
So what happens around the Hawaii base during that time? Here’s a little peek into April for ya.
That’s us! We’re down from the 80+ crew to about 20 staff and service team handling the workload of STN – gettin’ it done! Feeding The Hungry still blesses the ‘āina with boxes and loads of food, helped by some able-bodied outside volunteers. Surfers Coffee Bar is still serving up some prime lattes. Internship is prepping for their next 20 world-changers and Summer Challenge staff are sending out acceptance packets to their 40 incoming students. And of course, the summer is also packed with International trips – Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and North Korea – we are planning planning planning!
Spots for guys
We’ve got a few spots on the Internship and July Summer Challenge program for guys, so if you’ve been procrastinating or you have a special guy in mind – now is the time!
Now is the time!
On that note, if you want to get involved with STN’s international outreaches, now is the time to sign up. Indonesia is going to be a 20-year celebratory blast. Sri Lanka is always firing. North Korea is an opportunity to be a world-changing ambassador of peace. And – even though it’s still a little ways off – the Middle East trip is one of the most popular and culturally diverse experiences.
So, we’re holding down the fort, enjoying rainy Hawaii – how does your April look? We <3 comments!
