Celebrating 2016

2016 was an incredible year - Thank you to everyone who has helped make 2016 real, radical, and revolutionary!  Here's a look at the many different ways you helped make a difference through Surfing The Nations this year!

Road Tripping Through Australia

When years are spent dreaming about traveling to a new place, there is a strange mix of emotions that occurs when one finally arrives at said location. The excitement of being in a new place combined with the wonder of the unknown and a hand full of hopeful expectations is usually the trio responsible for the lovely endorphin rush a traveller experiences as he or she walks down the terminal. After leaving baggage claim and taking in that first breath of “fresh” air (usually a combination of car exhaust and jet fumes), he or she realizes it’s time to test whether the reality will live up to his or her imagination... Eric Arakawa Design

If you are into the surfing world - specifically the surfboard shaping world - “Eric Arakawa” is a name that probably rings a bell. An excellent surfer and world-renown shaper, Eric Arakawa shapes boards for all levels of surfers, all over the world. Growing up on the North Shore of Oahu, Eric started surfing at a young age, and very quickly became interested in shaping; at just 14 years old, he shaped his first board! Now, over 50 years later, Eric’s boards have been ridden to victory in countless Triple Crowns as well as WCT and WQS events worldwide, including Longboard and Big Wave World Tours. However, Eric Arakawa is more than just an ...

Character 15

While everyone is busy trying to set (and keep) their New Year's resolutions, we want to invite you to join us on ours here at Surfing The Nations! Each month we will focus on different character traits and make it our goal to refine these in new ways, both personally and as an organization. See the list below to follow along and be a part of Character 15!

INDO 2014

It's hard to believe that 2014 marks Surfing The Nations' SEVENTEENTH trip to Indonesia! In 1997, STN founder Tom Bauer pioneered the organization's first surfing adventure tour to this country of over 10,000 islands. On the brink of a new era of surfing about to flood Indonesia, he committed to go back every summer for the next ten years. Little did he know, that 'ten' would later turn into a 'twenty.' Now, 17 years later, he is back once again with a fresh team of 21, ready to introduce them to all of the reasons why he is full of stoke for Indo. The team landed in Denpasar, Bali on the 30th of June and have already made their way through the ...
