In Between Sets: April 2017

The STN universe cycles through three semesters a year and in between those sets (see what we did there? ;) ) we have what we call “down” months. Our interns have graduated and flown the nest, the SLS students have moved on to full-time staff positions and many of the staff are on outreach in Bangladesh. So what happens around the Hawaii base during that time? Here’s a little peek into April for ya.   Skeleton Crew That’s us! We’re down from the 80+ crew to about 20 staff and service team handling the workload of STN - gettin' it done! Inter-Island Adventures

One of the main highlights of our Internship program is the Inter-Island outreach to one of the neighboring Hawaiian islands. Bangla Bangla! Plus a giveaway!

Here we are again - the first international outreach trip of the year and it's usually a doozy - Bangladesh! Somehow, this faraway nation of rickshaws, three-pieces, paratha and dhal has captured the imagination of generations of STNers. We don’t usually do this but we are going to do a giveaway at the end of this blog, so keep reading! Before that, though, let’s talk about the stoke around Bangladesh. While the rickshaws and paratha have played their part, there’s a LOT to be said for the sweet friendships and awesome adventure that Bangladesh offers, both of which were perfectly captured by the inspiring documentary, Gum For My Boat. ...
